Carnival of Cities, Urban World

The theme of this week’s carnival of cities is Urban World.  Since the carnival usually starts in the U.S., I’ll turn it upside down and start in Europe this week.

In Preston, United  Kingdom, Riversider wonders is Preston City Council Looking to “Build All Over” South Ribble?  Can you imagine putting 4,000 homes here?  What a loss.  Read about it in Save The Ribble.

In Lisse, the Netherlands, Mother Road invites everyone to Tiptoe Through the Tulips at the Keukenhof Gardens outside Amsterdam.  She writes about family travel at Kid Trippin’, part of Disney’s Family.com Web site.

In Rome, Italy, Henry Bagdasarian gives some great personal security tips in his article My trip to Italy.  He blogs at Free Identity Theft Prevention, Detection and Fraud Solutions, showing that you don’t have to write a city blog to blog about a city.

Next, we’ll travel on to Asia:

At the China Law Blog, Dan Harris blogs about Rich Karlgaard’s blog post China’s Future: Shanghai or Beijing? and draws lots of interesting comments.

In Mauritius, Indian Ocean, Alfa King is  back this week to tell us that The racing season is back in his country, where horse racing has been run by the Mauritius Turf Club since 1812.   Read more at Alfa King Memories.

CJCM warns Criminals…you will be prosecuted in Malaysian courts even when you are already dead, as he reports from Kuala Lumpur is Home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia .

Now, let’s wander through America on our way back home to San Diego:

In Manhattan, New York, USA, Shedwa provides a video of a wild parade through the streets for the article Sea of People Scope Out Lower Manhattan.  Find this and other fun videos at shedwa, one of the blogs of Shawn Waite.

In Columbus’ Walkable Neighborhoods: the Arena District, Toby Boyce and gives a few real estate tips while providing a tour of the town.  Read more at Sadie’s Take on Delaware Ohio.

In Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Anthony sets out Exploring the Life of Martin Luther King Jr. by visiting his neighborhood at The Lives and Times… of Anthony McCune.

In Folly Beach (near Charleston) South Carolina, USA, jaz writes about Folly Beach, where you’ll find more of a bohemian vibe than other area beaches.  Check this out, along with the beautiful pictures on Wicked Winter. 

Colleen provides City Spotlight: Tarpon Springs, an article about a unique Greek sponge-diving community on the Florida Gulf Coast, where she grew up.  She writes at TheFloridaBlog.

Swinging across the country to Prescott, Arizona, USA, GrannyJ lists all of the news sources available in this town in Prescott Media Watch, posted at Walking Prescott.

Up to Seattle, Washington, USA, let’s Find Out Whodunit at Seattle Mystery Book Store with Mary Jo Manzanares who writes at The Seattle Traveler.

Heading down the coast, Kathryn writes A Love Letter to San Francisco, while listing the things she doesn’t like about Los Angeles at her blog San Fran Voice.

In San Jose, California, USA, Silicon Valley Blogger writes about the overpriced California real estate market, explaining How to Kill Your Credit Instantly with Mortgage Fraud and Subprime Borrowing, at The Digerati Life.

Finally, we arrive back in San Diego.  You must be starving by now! Let’s go out for an ice cream while you read my Cold Stone Confessions posted right here at The San Diego Beat.
