Dos Equis San Diego; Photo by bookish in north parkWelcome to the January 17, 2008 issue of The San Diego Special Edition!

I hope that you’ll continue to join us for this carnival of San Diego County blogs each month. It’s a great way to hear from the many voices of San Diego, and discover other new blogs that you’ll love reading.

This month, Jeff Dowler presents Encinitas - LUX Art Institute posted at active rain. His article includes information about the Institute and the artists, and even a video walking you through this unique structure.

attractions

Lady Washington: Photo by BejanHave you been seeing pirate ships off the coast lately? You’re not seeing things. We’ve actually been visited by four tall ships, one featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. You can read more about them in Tall Ships Docking in Oceanside, here at The San Diego Beat.

business

This month Debra Simpson at North San Diego Business@Large conducted an interview with international speaker, author and trainer Reut Schwartz-Hebron, and has included the audio in her article The Management Initiative - Bringing Kindness to Management Strategies.

economy

Of course, it just wouldn’t be The San Diego Special Edition without information about our local housing j0414071market. As such, Brian Brady presents 2008 Housing  Market Outlook For U.S. Investors posted at Mortgage Rates Report. Although he doesn’t forecast a rosy future, he does offer a silver lining amidst the black cloud.

Continuing in this vein, Dan Melson presents Buyer’s Markets Are A Great Time For Moving Up posted at Searchlight Crusade. His article presents a financial analysis proving that this may be the ideal time to move up to a larger home.

All this reading is getting me hungry.  Just in time, Darlene at …my burning kitchen….presents Fancy San Diego burgers: Burger Lounge. I don’t know which sounds better - the burgers, the cupcakes, or the milkshakes! Yum!

Jamie says, “Here’s a quick guide to planning weddings and honeymoons in beautiful San Diego!” She presents San Diego Weddings posted at Go San Diego Card Blog. Can you think of anything more beautiful than a San Diego wedding?

Sadly, Hills Local’s article, The 1st hero in my life has died-11.30.07, marks the loss of Evel Knievel at his San Elijo Life blog.  (You’ll have to click on his Sports tab and page down to find the article.)

pbsunsetOn we go to Pacific Beach posted at Mykey03’s Weblog by Mike Mallowe. His discovery of this magical community sounds like the quintessential San Diego experience, and his appreciation for his new home is almost lyrical! We should all be a bit careful in revealing how amazing it is to live here, Mike - everyone will want to join us.

Coronado mapIt would seem that Steve Johnson didn’t get this warning soon enough. He presents You WALK in Coronado posted at Coronado Island News Blog (eCoronado.com). If you like sunshine, fresh air, and a nice walk around town, Coronado Island might just be irresistible.

That concludes this edition. Thanks to all of you who submitted links to your articles and blogs this month. It’s obvious that you love the San Diego area as much as I do, and I’m afraid that’s not much of a secret.

If you’d like to participate in the next issue of The San Diego Special Edition, please submit your blog article link using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
