The San Diego Special Edition - October 17, 2007

by Carole A. Lane on October 17th, 2007

Welcome to the October 17, 2007 edition of The San Diego Special Edition. If this is your first time here, I should explain that the “Special Edition” is special because it includes the voices of so many other San Diego bloggers.

An invitation goes out once each month, asking San Diego bloggers and travel writers who write about San Diego to submit links to one of their latest articles about anything in San Diego county. Links to those articles are compiled here, and The San Diego Special Edition is posted showcasing all of our local talent.

This month’s edition includes several new voices, as well as some familiar ones:

animals

monster-in-the-cruiserWe’ll start with Jamie, who presents Pet-friendly San Diego posted at Go San Diego Card Blog. Jamie has great tips for those traveling to our fair communities with dogs, and who can resist Monster (on the left)? He obviously travels in style.

davetorns2 Next, at San Diego Classical Music, Fred Tracey presents San Diego Native Appointed to Conducting Post. This profile of conductor David Torns should make all San Diegans proud of another “hometown boy” doing very well.

San Diego real estate is always a hot commodity, and a hot topic here at The San Diego Special Edition. This month is no exception, starting with Dan Melson, who presents Economics of Home Ownership in High Density Areas posted at Dan Melson’s San Diego Real Estate and Mortgage Website. This article will make you happy if you’re already a San Diego homeowner. Otherwise, it sounds like a good time to look at condos.

Hold on! Before you run out and throw down your hard-earned cash on a condo, Brian Brady presents Investing in Downtown San Diego Condos posted at America’s Mortgage Broker. Brian has a different perspective on San Diego’s condo market, so I’d want to read this as well, if I were investing anytime soon.

Next Peter Toner presents some advice for those looking for a real estate loan. You’ll find his article Is the sky falling? posted at San Diego real estate blog - Peter Toner.

AWATER_P1Is it time for a drink? Well, enjoy it now, because the price of water is also going up, according to Melissa Masters at Oh! San Diego. About her article, San Diego Water Crisis May Hit Wallets Big Time, Melissa says,

“It’s a safe prediction that San Diego will see it’s monthly water bill continue to balloon now that California officials are reporting we’re entering a full-scale water crisis.”

How would you research the neighborhood you’re thinking of moving into?

j0411820 Gregg & Debbie Newman presents How Does the Federal Fair Housing Act Affect San Diego Downtown Buyers? posted at Downtown San Diego Real Estate. In this article, Gregg and Debbie provide resources and advice for checking out the neighborhood before you buy.

Let’s assume you’ve now purchased your San Diego home (or condo). Are you ready to move in? Marti Gellens says no. Marti presents Help! I locked myself out of my La Jolla Home! posted at La Jolla Real Estate: La Jolla Luxury Homes, where she provides a list of local locksmiths and a reminder that your family’s personal safety comes first.

Now that you’ve moved in and changed Z Gallerie Canistersthe locks, how will you furnish your new place? With Maria Palma’s help, of course! Maria presents San Diego Home Furnishings For Every Style and Budget posted at Home Solutions San Diego: Real Estate and Home Decorating Resource. Maria says,

“There’s no excuse not to have a stylishly decorated home in San Diego! With so many places to shop for furniture and home accessories, it’s pretty easy to find what you are looking for.”

I’ll just round out this month’s carnival with a visit to Birch Aquarium at Scripps, with thanks to clannon for the very cool video.

That concludes this edition. Thanks so much to all of the participants. Submit your blog article to the next edition of The San Diego Special Edition using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page. See you next month!
